Job Title: School Nurse

  • 10-month position
     

  • Hours (two options) : 
    Either   Part-time Monday to Friday (approx. 14 hrs) with job share opportunity
    Or        Full-time (school hours) Monday to Friday (approx. 30 hours)
     

  • Competitive hourly rate based on experience.

 

Qualifications

  • Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse licensure.
     
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred but not required.
     
  • Current and valid MA DESE School Nurse license preferred but not required for hire.
     
  • Will need to actively work on completing the MA DESE school nurse licensure program through BU SHIELD.
     
  • Must be able to meet regulations for school nursing regarding license to dispense controlled substances, EpiPen license, and must be able to manage a recently diagnosed Type-1 diabetic student.
     
  • Knowledge of the diverse health, social, and educational needs of adolescents and their families.
     
  • Experience with special needs adolescent students and their families is preferred.
     
  • Comprehensive knowledge of school health programs, philosophy, and objectives.
     
  • Certified in CPR and First Aid.
     
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently. Willing to work as a team member and have the ability to communicate with varied school professionals.
     
  • Strong detail, organizational, triage, assessment, communication, and documentation skills.
     
  • Ability to laugh and brains are essential!
