Our NVLD Approach

Understanding materials past rote memorization can be challenging. We find alternative ways to present essential concepts and skills that students with NVLD need. For example, a wall can be thrown up when looking at fractions on the page, but spice it up with a recipe for baking, and it becomes possible to find an opening. We use similar techniques across all subject areas. We stretch to find and build upon something that resonates with each student.

We see each student with NVLD as an individual with their unique challenges and strengths. Each diagnosis of NVLD is unique. Most importantly, a student is not a diagnosis. They may be challenged with NVLD but it does not define who they are or their potential. We create the space and time to connect to the individual and teach to each student's strengths and passions. We work to break down barriers and provide a flexible, encouraging, and safe environment.
